Amazon is determined to generate buzz for its blockbuster series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which includes a large new trailer to kick off Comic-Con International.
The three-minute clip adds significantly to the story and, predictably, sets the stage for Sauron’s appearance.

While the show will begin by emphasizing the relative peace of Middle-Second earth’s Age, it will soon become clear that Sauron is returning — and that factions will need to band together if they hope to stop the Dark Lord.
As the title suggests, the series will center on the creation of the Rings of Power, which are central to J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy world.
You can also expect to learn more about the island nation of Nmenor’s rise and fall. Clips shown at Comic-Con revealed a younger Elrond, harfoots (hobbit ancestors), and Arondir.
The Rings of Power will be available on Prime Video on September 2nd. It’s too early to tell if Amazon’s reported $1 billion production budget will pay off. However, it is clear that the internet behemoth is not taking any chances.

Stephen Colbert, the talk show host (and Tolkien fan), kicked off the Comic-Con panel with an orchestral performance led by composer Bear McCreary. Amazon believes the Lord of the Rings saga will be a success, and it is willing to spend lavishly on both production and marketing.
