In a recent interview with India Today TV, Union Home Minister Amit Shah explained why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chose not to ally with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha.

Shah emphasized that the decision was based on the belief of BJP party workers who felt that fighting separately would be in the best interest of Odia language, culture, and the pride of Odisha.

Shah stated, “Our party workers strongly believed that for Odia language, culture, and for the pride of Odisha, the BJP should fight separately. So, we went with their beliefs.”

He further added, “We urge the Odisha public to give the responsibility of the state’s growth to BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Wherever PM Modi has emerged victorious, the growth rate has gone up by a huge margin.”

The alliance talks between the Biju Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party failed, leading both parties to decide to contest the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections alone.

The decision to contest separately came after the BJP did not agree with the BJD government on several issues concerning the interests of the Odia people.

According to Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal, the saffron party did not align with the BJD government on matters related to “Odia asmita” (Odia pride) and “Odia glory.” These disagreements on crucial issues led to the breakdown of the alliance talks.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the positive impact of BJP-led governments on growth and development in various states. He urged the people of Odisha to trust the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and give them the opportunity to contribute to the state’s progress.

Shah emphasized that wherever Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has emerged victorious, the growth rate has witnessed a significant increase. By placing their faith in the BJP, the people of Odisha can expect similar positive outcomes for their state.

While the BJP and BJD may have had differing views on certain issues, the BJP believes that its approach to governance and development aligns better with the aspirations of the people of Odisha.

The party aims to prioritize the interests of the Odia people, their language, culture, and overall pride.
