SpaceX has agreed to send additional Starlink terminals to Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s tweet on March 6, 2022.

“Talked to Elon Musk. I’m grateful to him for supporting Ukraine with words and deeds.  Next week we will receive another batch of Starlink systems for destroyed cities,” Zelensky tweeted on Saturday afternoon.

Following a Twitter plea from Ukraine’s vice prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, SpaceX sent its first shipment of satellite dishes on February 26th. The package arrived on February 28th.

Days later, Elon Musk warned Ukrainians to be cautious when using the service because it is the only non-Russian internet provider left in some of the country’s most war-torn areas.

The warning came after a researcher with the University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab, John Scott-Railton, pointed out that Russia has decades of experience triangulating and targeting satellite uplink transmissions with airstrikes.

NetBlocks, an internet monitoring organization, has noticed several drops in connectivity over the last few days in the country.

Among the most recent and potentially concerning incidents is one involving the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which caused the International Atomic Energy Agency to declare that it could no longer obtain “reliable information” from the facility.
