Shikhar Dhawan Pays Tribute To Son Zoravar After Retirement Announcement

"Zoravar is 11 now. I hope he gets to know about my retirement and all about my cricket journey," Dhawan told The Hindustan Times. He further added, "But more than as a cricketer, I would like for Zoravar to remember me as a good human being."

Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24, Saturday. After his announcement, he also had a special message for his son Zoravar.

The former India cricketer expressed his deep desire for his son to remember him as a good human being. He wished Zoravar to know about his cricketing journey and his retirement.

Dhawan shares a really close bond with his son and recently shared that he has not been able to get in contact with Zoravar after divorce from ex-wife Ayesha Mukherjee. The 38-year-old brought an end to his stellar career and is looking forward to the next phase of his life.

“Zoravar is 11 now. I hope he gets to know about my retirement and all about my cricket journey,” Dhawan told The Hindustan Times. He further added,

“But more than as a cricketer, I would like for Zoravar to remember me as a good human being.” Zoravar, alongside mother Ayesha, currently lives in Australia after her divorce from Dhawan in 2023.

Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement via an Instagram post where he expressed gratitude for having the privilege to represent his country.

“It’s important to turn the page to move forward in life and that’s why I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket,” Dhawan said in a video message.

“I am leaving with peace in my heart that I played for so long for India. I tell myself not to feel sad that you will not play for India anymore, but to feel happy that you played for your country.”

Dhawan made his international debut in 2010 and is ending his career with 24 hundred, including 17 in ODIs and seven in Tests across 269 international matches.
