Actor Manoj Pahwa Praises Aryan Khan’s Work Ethic

Veteran actor Manoj Pahwa recently shared insights into Aryan Khan’s dedication to his work, drawing parallels between Aryan and his father, Shah Rukh Khan. Pahwa, who worked with Aryan on an upcoming series, praised the young filmmaker’s commitment and professionalism.

“Aryan is a young and hardworking boy. The process of filming this series was quite a long process, but it was definitely a lot of fun.

I know Shah Rukh works 18-20 hours a day if required. He is a workaholic, and I have seen Aryan work in a similar way too,” Pahwa stated in a recent interview with Hindi Rush.

The actor also highlighted Aryan’s thoughtful nature, noting how the young Khan takes after his father in more ways than one. “Shah Rukh is very respectful and loving. He will make you feel as if you have known him forever.

“If you go to his office, he will come and drop you to the gate. I believe Aryan is similar in this regard as well. He also takes care of everyone… One day I saw Aryan’s food coming from Mannat and I said I also want it, so he started getting it for me too.

“I used to tell Seema that I ate food from Shah Rukh Khan’s house. It was made by his special chef. We used to have chicken roll, etc. It was a good feeling.”

Manoj Pahwa plays a pivotal role in ‘Stardom’, which will mark Aryan Khan’s directorial debut.

With Grit And Grace, ‘Gabbar’ Shikhar Dhawan Entertained And Carved His Legacy

0

Shikhar Dhawan gave his 100 percent, every time he stepped onto the field. He had fun while doing so. Gritty, elegant and fun-filled, Shikhar Dhawan never missed a moment to express himself.

One of MS Dhoni’s trusted lieutenants, the left-handed opener had a thrill ride that will last long in the memories of Indian cricket fans.

In a country that has produced some of the greatest openers, Shikhar Dhawan carved his own legacy. And when he announced retirement on Saturday, August 24, he hung his boots with a sense of fulfilment and gratitude.

Dhawan was an integral part of India’s transformation period under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

When the big guns, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir were in the twilight of their careers, Dhawan carried forward the baton, making sure India’s openers continued to dominate world cricket.

His partnership with Rohit Sharma was one of the cornerstones of India’s success between 2013 and 2019.

The Gabbar from Delhi and the Hitman from Mumbai forged one of the most successful opening partnerships for India in ODI cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan might have earned his redemption ticket in Tests after having had a wobbly start in white-ball cricket at the highest level. But, 50-over cricket was where Dhawan truly shone.

With 6793 runs at an average of over 40 and a strike rate of over 90, the Delhi batter drew the curtains on his career after having established himself as one of the modern-day masters of white-ball cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan left the stage on which he entertained and inspired with no regrets. As the prolific opener bid goodbye to the sport he loved, here are some of the highlights of his decorated career.

From the very beginning of his career, Shikhar Dhawan loved the big stage. When he was a teenager, he top-scored in the ICC U19 World Cup in 2004, amassing 505 runs, 122 runs more than the next-best — Alastair Cook.

His love affair with ICC tournaments continued until a tragic injury cut-short his stay in the ODI World Cup in 2019.

Born in Delhi, he made a name for himself in domestic cricket with impressive performances for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy and India’s U-19 team. However, his entry into international cricket was not as smooth as many had anticipated.

Dhawan made his ODI debut on October 20, 2010, against Australia in Visakhapatnam. The debut, however, was forgettable – he was bowled out for a duck by Clint McKay.

The early phase of his career was marked by inconsistency, as Dhawan struggled to convert his domestic form into success on the international stage. Between 2010 and 2011, he played sporadically and was often overshadowed by more established players.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi charmed social media with an Instagram post that revealed a tender and personal side of his relationship with his mother, Sonia Gandhi.

The post shared a glimpse into the Gandhi household, where the title of “Mum’s favourite” isn’t held by Rahul or his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, but by Noorie, their Jack Russell Terrier.

The post featured two candid photos of a beaming Sonia Gandhi, who was seen carrying Noorie in a dog backpack.

The caption, “Mum’s favourite?” playfully suggested the special bond between Sonia and her canine companion, Rahul Gandhi’s post resonated with followers and went viral. Within just 24 hours, it garnered an impressive 781,596 likes and more than 5,400 comments.

Noorie, who has become a beloved member of the Gandhi household, was a gift from Rahul Gandhi to his mother last year. On World Animal Day in 2023, Rahul shared the story of how he met Noorie at a dog kennel in Mapusa, a town in North Goa.

In a video posted on social media, the Gandhi scion is seen selecting Noorie from a group of puppies during a visit to Goa in August 2023. He later surprised Sonia Gandhi at her Delhi home with the lively and affectionate puppy.

“Animals teach us the meaning of unconditional love! For the few months she’s been with us, little Noorie has lit up our lives,” he captioned the video introducing Noorie to the world.

The Gandhi family is known for their love of animals, with several dogs making their home at the family’s residence over the years.

Noorie joins a line of cherished pets, including Pidi, another dog frequently featured in Rahul Gandhi’s social media posts. Pidi gained fame for his amusing tricks and playful antics, endearing himself to Rahul’s followers.

NRI Shot In Front Of Wife And Son In Amritsar, Assailants Flee As Gun Jams

An NRI who recently returned from the United States was shot at his residence in Amritsar’s Daburji area in Punjab on Saturday. Two armed men entered Sukhchain Singh’s residence and fired at him from close range even as his wife and child pleaded for his life.

Singh, who suffered two bullet injuries, has been hospitalised. He is presently stable and has suffered injuries to his face and hands.

The attack was recorded on Singh’s CCTV camera. The footage showed the assailants fleeing the spot after their pistols jammed.

Sukhchain Singh used to live in the US and returned to Amritsar around 20 days back. He recently bought a luxury car worth Rs 1.5 crore. The armed assailants entered Singh’s home on the pretext of enquiring about his car’s registration certificate and then started firing at him.

Singh’s family members have demanded strict action against the accused. His mother has claimed that the family of Singh’s first wife was behind the attack.

The government has asked the Amritsar Police Commissioner to take immediate action in the matter. Sukhchain Singh’s family has lodged an FIR against five family members of his ex-wife, ANI reported.

Police have seized all the CCTVs of the residence and started an investigation into the incident, which has been used by the opposition to corner the ruling AAP government on the law and order situation.

Punjab Minister for NRI Affairs Kuldeep S Dhaliwal hinted that the incident might have been the result of a personal dispute.

“We are verifying whether the issue was personal. Property and other personal disputes related to NRIs are prevalent these days. Yesterday also, I resolved a similar issue in Ludhiana. My appeal to NRIs is that any such personal issue should be resolved by sitting together and through mutual consent,” Dhaliwal said.

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said the law and order situation in Punjab had “completely deteriorated”. Tagging Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in his post on X, Badal said, “Such incidents are happening every day in your state. Punjabis are not safe even in their homes. I think you should resign on moral grounds.”

Former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said the “deadly attack” on Sukhchain Singh had “shaken” Punjab. “You (Bhagwant Mann) and your family go around in bullet-proof vehicles. But, who will protect the Punjabis? Extortion, interviews of gangsters in jails, threats, and murder have become commonplace in Punjab,” Harsimrat said.

BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa said he was deeply pained and shocked by the incident. “Looks like there is no law and order in Punjab… Bhagwant Mann’s Rangla Punjab is just a dialogue,” Sirsa said.

Congress Punjab chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said NRIs once proudly called Punjab their home, but they now live in fear. “The AAP government’s incompetence has made Punjab a danger zone. Punjab needs action not bhashan,” Warring tweeted.

‘No Dalit, Tribal Women In Miss India List’: Rahul Gandhi’s New Jibe

0

In a fresh attack on the Narendra Modi-led Central government, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday, said that no woman belonging to the Dalit, Tribal or OBC communities, cut Miss India beauty pageant.

“I checked the list of Miss India to see if there would be any Dalit or tribal woman in it, but there was no women from Dalit, tribal or OBC. Still, the media talks about dance, music, cricket, Bollywood but does not talk about farmers and labourers”, he said.

The former Congress president reiterated his demand and the importance of conducting a nationwide caste census, saying it was not just a census but served as a foundation for effective policymaking.

Addressing a Samvidhan Samman Sammelan in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, Rahul Gandhi stated that 90 per cent of the population was not connected with the system despite having the required skills, talent and knowledge.

The Congress leader also underlined that it was important to note how the wealth was being distributed among the 90 per cent of the population who were bereft of any benefits, apart from holding a caste census.

“As many as 90 per cent of the people are not a part of the system. They have the required skill, talent and knowledge, but they are not connected with the system. That’s why we are demanding a caste census. BJP leaders are saying that an OBC section will be given after the caste census,” he said.

“We want a list of different communities. For us, the caste census is not just a census, it is a foundation for policymaking. Just conducting a caste census is not enough, it is also important to understand how the wealth is being distributed,” he said.

“It is also important to find out how much the participation is of OBCs, Dalits and workers in the bureaucracy, judiciary and media?” he added.

During campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress, in its manifesto, promised to conduct a nationwide socio-economic caste census to enumerate the castes, sub-castes and their socio-economic conditions, if the party was voted to power.

While addressing an election rally in April, Rahul Gandhi also said if Congress formed the government at the Centre, it would conduct a financial and institutional survey to ascertain the distribution of wealth among the people in the country.

Rahul Gandhi’s promise, however, drew a sharp rebuttal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had alleged that the Congress would distribute the country’s wealth to “infiltrators” and “those who have more children”. PM Modi’s remarks sparked a huge uproar among the Opposition.

Mehbooba Mufti Releases J&K Poll Manifesto: ‘Won’t Contest If…’

0

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday invited the National Conference and Congress, which allied to fight the upcoming Assembly polls, to contest on all 90 seats of the Union Territory if they follow her party’s agenda.

Releasing the PDP manifesto at a press conference in Srinagar, Mufti said the alliance between NC and Congress happened based on seat-sharing and not on any agenda. She added her party wouldn’t join any alliance if there were only talks on seat-sharing.

“Alliance and seat sharing are faraway things. If the National Conference and Congress are ready to adopt our agenda, we will say they should contest on all seats.

We will follow them because, for me, solving the problem of Kashmir is more important than anything else… When we allied earlier also, we had an agenda, when we allied with the BJP, we had an agenda which they agreed to,” she said.

“But the alliance between the NC and Congress is not happening on the agenda. It is happening on seat sharing. We will not do any alliance in which there is only talk of seat sharing. The alliance should be on the agenda and our agenda is to solve the problem of Jammu and Kashmir,” she added.

She said her party wanted the opening of the route to the Hindu pilgrimage site Sharada Peeth in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), and called for dialogue with Pakistan for the restoration of cross-LoC trade, which has been suspended by India since 2019 after Pakistan downgraded its trade ties following the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the last Assembly polls held in 2014, the BJP and PDP formed a coalition government, with Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the Chief Minister. After Sayeed’s death in January 2016, Mehbooba Mufti succeeded her father following a brief period of Governor’s Rule.

In June 2018, the BJP walked out of the PDP-led coalition government, leading to the dissolution of the Assembly by then-Governor Satya Pal Malik in November of that year. Since then, Jammu and Kashmir has not had an Assembly.

In the press conference, Mufti said her PDP, if voted to power in the Assembly polls, would give free 200 units of electricity and implement the old pension scheme.

She also promised that her party would ensure free electricity to temples, mosques and gurdwaras. She said her party would increase the honorarium of contractual teachers.

She stated that free legal would be provided for those people who are behind bars.

Elections in 90 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Results are expected to be declared on October 4.

This will be the first Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir since the erstwhile state was stripped of Article 370 granted special status and bifurcated into two Union Territories — Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh in 2019.

Since 2019, Jammu and Kashmir has been governed as a Union Territory, with key powers resting with the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Kumar Sinha.

Amazon To Discontinue Echo Show 8 Photos Edition’s Main Reason For Existing

0

If you own an Amazon Echo Show 8 Photos edition, be prepared for your device to start showing ads.

According to emails posted by customers on Reddit and Threads and first reported by The Verge, Amazon will discontinue its PhotosPlus subscription feature that let people upload and display their own pictures on the Echo Show 8.

PhotosPlus subscriptions will end on September 12 and Amazon will end support for the photo feature on September 23. Instead, affected customers will have to upload their photos to Amazon Photos with 25 GB of storage and learn to live with the ads on their home screen.

The feature, which costs $2 a month, let users upload their own photos for display on the Echo Show 8’s home screen turning the voice and touch-controlled screen device into a digital picture frame. The screen would rotate the owners’ photos every 30 seconds, a feature that could be left on indefinitely (or as long as it could last on its chargeable battery).

Any mention of the PhotosPlus subscription has been removed from Amazon’s website. The Amazon Echo Show 8 Photos Edition is also no longer for sale.

Amazon has seen some major struggles with Alexa devices. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that Alexa lost Amazon more than $25 billion from 2017 to 2021.

Amazon has tried to recoup some of those losses by eliminating bonuses to Alexa developers. The tech giant is also reportedly working on an advanced version of Alexa known as “Remarkable Alexa” that could come with a monthly subscription fee.

Amit Shah Says Naxalism Will Be Eliminated By 2026

0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday called naxalism “the biggest challenge” to the democratic system and said the time had come for a “final assault” on it. He also said that naxalism would be eliminated from the country by March 2026.

“I believe that our fight has reached the end phase and by March 2026, we will be able to free the country completely from naxalism,” Amit Shah said at a press conference in Raipur.

Amit Shah’s remarks came after he held meetings in Chhattisgarh to review the inter-state coordination and Left Wing Extremism situation, as well as security and development in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas of the state.

“We believe that naxalism is the biggest challenge to the democratic system in our nation. In the last four decades, 17,000 people lost their lives because of naxalism.

“Since PM Modi-led BJP came to power at the Centre, we have accepted this as a challenge and tried to bring those who have weapons in the hands (naxalites) into the mainstream,” Amit Shah said in Raipur.

He said the meeting in Chhattisgarh was to map out plans to tackle the issue, with steps including 100 per cent saturation of central government and Chhattisgarh government’s schemes in the naxal-affected areas, the progress of infrastructure projects in such areas and to remove the challenges faced during such projects.

“Time has come to carry out the final assault along with ruthless politics to tackle Left Wing Extremism and naxalism,” Amit Shah said.
