The country's COVID-19 cases had exceeded the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

India total number of COVID-19 cases has amounted to 2,49,65,463 on Monday with 2,81,386 new cases, which is the lowest in 27 days, meanwhile, the death toll grew to 2,74,390 with 4,106 fatalities, Union health ministry data has shown.

However, the number of active cases remains at 35,16,997, accounting for 14.09 percent of the total infection cases.

The data that was updated by 8 am shows that the national recovery rate has improved to 84.81 percent.

The record also shows that the number of people who have recovered from the virus has grown to 2,11,74,076, while the case fatality rate remains at 1.10 percent.

The country’s COVID-19 cases had exceeded the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

India’s COVID-19 cases went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on May 4.

Following the Indian Council of Medical Research report, 31,64,23,658 samples had been tested up to May 16 including 15,73,515 that tested on Sunday.
