The government officially handed over Air India to the Tata Group on Thursday. N Chandrasekharan, chairman of Tata Sons, stated that the company is overjoyed to have the airline back in its fold.

Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), told reporters that AirIndia had been handed over to Talace Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Tata Group’s holding company, which was the successful bidder.

Tuhin Kanta Pandey said, “Now, the new owners (of the airline) are Talace.”

While speaking to reporters, Chandrasekharan said, “We are totally delighted that the takeover process of AirIndia is complete. We are very happy to have AirIndia back in the Tata group. We look forward to working with everyone to create a world-class airline.”

Following a competitive bidding process, the government sold the country’s airline to Talace Private Limited on October 8, last year for Rs 18,000 crore.
