Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has expressed his desire to resign after coming under fire from the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for comments he made about legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Mumbai, the Governor met with him separately and offered to resign. “I’d like to spend the rest of my life reading and writing,” the Governor said to the Prime Minister.

Koshyari confirmed his intention to resign in a press statement.
“It was an absolute honour and privilege for me to serve as the Rajya Sevak or Rajyapal of a great State like Maharashtra – the land of saints, social reformers, and valiant fighters,” said Koshyari.
“I can never forget the love and affection I have received from the people of Maharashtra during the last little more than 3 years.
“During the recent visit of the Prime Minister to Mumbai, I have conveyed to him my desire to be discharged of all political responsibilities and to spend the remainder of my life in reading, writing and other activities,” he said.
“I have always received the love and affection from the Prime Minister and I hope to receive the same in this regard,” Koshyari stated in the press release issued by Raj Bhavan.
Koshyari stated at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University convocation ceremony in Aurangabad in November,
