Harnaaz Sandhu made every Indian proud by reclaiming the Miss Universe 2021 title after a 21-year absence. Harnaaz Sandhu, the beauty queen, had a historic win at the beauty pageant in December 2021 when she won the 70th edition of the pageant in Eliat, Israel.
For the uninitiated, it was Sushmita Sen, who won the coveted title of Miss Universe in 1994, becoming the first Indian to do so. Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe in 2000 after a six-year reign.

The world watched the Miss Universe 2022 coronation ceremony on January 15, 2023, in New Orleans, USA. R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States won the Miss Universe 2022 title this time, with Venezuela’s Amanda Dudamel finishing first runner-up.
Harnaaz Sandhu, from Chandigarh, graced the event and went on to crown her successor at the grand event. Harnaaz, on the other hand, became extremely emotional at the moment, and she was teary-eyed as she walked the stage for the final time as the reigning Miss Universe.
A video of Harnaaz’s final walk was shared on the Miss Universe organization’s official Twitter account. Harnaaz Sandhu, in the video, holds back her tears and greets the audience with a namaste gesture.
However, as she walked across the stage, she nearly tripped. The brainy beauty recovered like a queen and resumed her walk with grace and confidence.
We could hear her voiceover playing in the background during the emotional moment as Harnaaz said, “I was 17 years old when I first took the stage and since then becoming Miss Universe has been my goal.
“I’ve been given the megaphone on a worldwide stage to present the topic of menstrual equity before world leaders asking them to keep this conversation ongoing.” Watch the video below:
