Berserk, the long-running manga that combines fantasy and, well, violence, is returning to television. According to ComicBook.com, the original 25-episode 1997 anime series based on the manga and directed by Naohito Takahashi will be available on Netflix on December 1st.
Berserk is a pitch-black and fairly brutal anime, as evidenced by the trailer below, that debuted eight years after the manga first appeared in Young Animal magazine.

The series takes place during the so-called Golden Age Arc, during which Guts joined the Band of the Hawk and met the other main characters, Griffith and Casca.
Some fans believe it is the best adaptation of the manga, and it is said to have inspired or influenced major anime hits such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan.
When it was announced that Netflix had secured the rights to the Berserk franchise, as well as Parasyte, Monster, and other classic anime, the release of Berserk material seemed a foregone conclusion.
