On June 3, 1973, the power couple married at Jaya’s godmother’s home in Mumbai. Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan have two children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan. The couple will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2023.

Jaya Bachchan became a television star after receiving her education at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. She has been in the Hindi film industry for many decades and has proven her acting chops in films such as Zanjeer, Guddi, Abhimaan, and others.
Then, in 1963, Jaya made her acting debut as a teen in Satyajit Ray’s Bengali film Mahanagar. She later rose to prominence in the Hindi film industry following that exposure.
Jaya Bachchan who appeared on her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast ‘What The Hell Navya’ spoke about her first paycheck and admitted that she had no relationship with money when she started working.
“I had no relationship with money. The first salary I got was at the age of 13. I don’t even know how much I was paid,” the talented star said.
“When I went to the institute to study, I told my father I don’t want him to finance me, I paid for my education.”
Jaya also discussed how women manage their money, revealing that they are changing their stance on financial management. Using her mother as an example, the actress revealed that her mother used to place money in a small kit in the name of God.
“I remember my mother (Indira Bhaduri) had a little kit, where she used to put money and say, ‘yeh bhagwan ke liye hai’. For them (older women) everything is ‘yeh bhagwan karega, yeh bhagwan ne kiya’ with good excuses.”
