Superstar singer Jennifer Lopez sweet year continued on Sunday at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards ceremony.
Jennifer was on hand to accept the Generation Award, but first, she had to strut her stuff down the red carpet. She wore a form-fitting black gown with a plunging neckline and a leather bodice.
MTV announced that J.Lo would receive the Generation Award on Friday, stating that the award “celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names.”
Scarlett Johansson, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Pratt, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Sandra Bullock, Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, and the entire Fast & Furious franchise are previous recipients of the award.
“I want to thank all the people who gave me this life. I want to thank the people who gave me joy, and the ones who broke my heart,” Jennifer Lopez said while accepting the golden popcorn for the award.
“The ones who were true, and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love, and I want to thank the way that I lied to myself because that’s how I knew that I had to grow,” she added.
“I want to thank all the people who told me, to my face, or when I wasn’t in the room that I couldn’t do this. I really don’t think I could’ve done it without you. And I know I couldn’t have done it without the fans who saw the movies.
“You are the reason that I am here and that I have been here, and I love you,” she said after winning the award for Best Song for the tune “On My Way” from her movie Marry Me.
Jennifer Lopez’s latest appearance at the MTV Movie & TV Awards follows the heels of her performance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. J.Lo was on hand to perform “Get Right” and accept the year’s Icon Award.
Speaking to her fans, the singer said, “I want to say thank you to iHeart, because I appreciate this so much, so very, very much. Because of the love, you give me and the appreciation and the kindness… that’s what matters to me the most.”
Jennifer Lopez also thanked those who have supported her throughout the years because they “were the ones who gave me the opportunity. You did that! You did that for me! You made that dream come true!”
