Modi Slams Congress, 'Blind Opposition To Everything Is Never The Way"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress on Monday, claiming that the party has failed to secure people’s mandates in several states for decades but continues to engage in “blind opposition.”

Modi claimed that the opposition party’s statements and actions indicate that it is content to remain out of power for the next 100 years.

While replying to the debate on the president’s address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Modi said, “We are firm believers in democracy. And we also believe that criticism is an essential part of democracy. But, blind opposition to everything is never the way ahead.”

The Prime Minister claimed that during COVID, Congress went beyond all bounds. During the first wave, when people were following lockdown guidelines that advised them to remain where they were, he said, Congress was standing at Mumbai station and scaring innocent people.

“The question is not about elections it is about intentions. Despite being in power for 50 years why are the people of the country repeatedly rejecting them. Wherever people have taken the right path, they did not allow you to enter again,” Modi said.

The prime minister stated that India’s response to the pandemic is an example for the rest of the world.

The ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is the ideal time to consider how India can assume global leadership in the coming years. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the world is rapidly moving toward a new world order, and India should seize this opportunity, he said.

Modi also paid tributes to music legend Lata Mangeshkar, who died on Monday, saying her contribution strengthened the country’s unity. On Sunday, Mangeshkar, 92, was cremated with full state honors in Mumbai.

“Her voice mesmerized and inspired the country for such a long time,” … “She sang in 36 languages and this in itself is an inspiring example for the country’s unity,” the Prime Minister said.
